On March 21-22, the dx5 – digital & graphic art_research group —with the support of the Office of the Pontevedra Campus— is organizing the V Foro Internacional de Creación en la Frontera; an academic symposium entitled Anime. A transdisciplinary perspective, involving a dozen experts from all over the world, all of them scholars highly specialized in this artistic medium.
Organized as part of our ongoing research project —funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness— we decided to go beyond our usual scope and hold a genuinely transdisciplinary symposium involving experts from many different fields. Scholars from the Fine Arts field, but also from Aesthetics, Art History, Sociology, Narratology, Philosophy, Cultural Studies or Comparative Literature, among other studies, will meet in Pontevedra to talk about anime.
For further details about the schedule, guest speakers and topics, please check our website and download our programme (including abstracts in English and Spanish).
The opening keynote will be delivered by Marc Bernabé, a renowned translator of manga and anime and one of the leading experts in our country. Moreover, we will also welcome some of the most prominent researchers in this field, coming from Universities from all over the world, such as Jaqueline Berndt (Stockholm University), Minori Ishida (Niigata University), Stevie Tong Shun Suan (Hosei University), Jessica Bauwens (Ryukoku University), Zoltan Kacsuk (HAS Center for Social Sciences), Manuel Hernández-Pérez (Hull University), Olga Kopylova (Tohoku University), Alba Torrents Gonzalez, Selen Çalık (Boğaziçi University), or Ida Kirkegaard (Stockholm University).
Lead by José Andrés Santiago (Universidade de Vigo), this symposium will take place in the historic building of Casa das Campás, headquarters of the Vice-rectorate of the Pontevedra Campus, and located in the heart of Pontevedra. The lectures will be held both in Castillian Spanish and English, and simultaneous translation equipment will be available for the audience. Free admission subject to available seating.
We are looking forward to welcoming you all in Pontevedra, Spain.
