At BKF, she will show the work from 14 August to 17 October Tiredness (2016)

It consists of 18 serigraphic prints of 22 cm. in diameter, mounted on plastic displays (shelf wobblers), hung on the wall.

The work can be experienced in BKF's secretariat, Vingårdstræde 21, 1. th. 1070 København K. Opening hours are Monday-Thursday at 10-15.

About 'Fatigue' - and about her artistic practice - Billie Maya says:

“In 'Fatigue', the icon from the mega-group Google is transformed into tired, staring eyes, arranged as a large, graphic wall work, the craftsmanship of which is reminiscent of the concrete art of the 1920s. The contrast between the (post-)modern progress/efficiency principle and the avant-garde movement influences all my works.

When I e.g. dissecting 'the fall' as a theme, it is not only the loss of control of the personality that I am portraying. I also ask questions about the subject's physical decay in a medialized world. I am interested in the idea that when we fall, we lose our status as subjects and become objects.

This idea is translated in different ways in publications, graphic work as well as in spatial installations. Parallel to the graphic installations, a number of experimental films have emerged. Among others the short film Lines in Transparency (2014) and most recently Red and Blue Ball (2017)

Regardless of whether I work with film, objects or graphics, I am driven by a pervasive interest in political and social conditions and contemporary phenomena.”
