Christina René (b. 1989) is the August-September artist of the month in BKF's Graduate exhibitions 2018. The Danish-born artist graduated from the Royal Konsthögskolan in Stockholm earlier this year and is now back in Copenhagen, where she shows a series of collages and sculptures from his graduation exhibition.

The complete installation, which can be experienced in BKF's secretariat in Vingårdstræde until 27 September, is entitled 'The coercive system' and consists of textiles and ceramic glazed objects and collages, located in the meeting room, kitchen and office space.

Christina René talks about the ideas behind the exhibition:

"The coercive system starts from an investigation of objects as existences in an imposed context. The fact that everything is part of something else and that nothing exists alone physically interests me," says Christina René, who in this context has been inspired by Inger Christensen's method:

"The objects in the installation are part of a space, a story, have a context and a background. They are made of a material, have a shape and a color. All these physical aspects they have had no control over. They are shaped into an already existing reality.”

"Inger Christensen also works with formal procedures that deal with form in time, function, history and materiality. She creates a universal, timeless, abstract understanding and sense of form as existence and identity in a larger context, which I am very interested in.”

Christina René is currently exhibiting in The ex-room October-November 2018.
