The museums must take greater responsibility for inclusion and sustainability

The museums should provide figures on budgets, but also on their efforts and accounting for both diversity, equality and climate sustainability, writes Marie Thams in the Altinget.

Thank you to the Alting for seeing us as natural contributors to the debate on a new museum act.

We expressed early on that we want to take part in the reform work and last year approached the Minister of Culture and the Danish Parliament's Culture Committee, just as we have given our views in the press. So can the artists manage to be heard? We hope so.

In any case, the fact is that the visual artists' conditions will be greatly affected by the museum reform.

Because what will be set aside for art exhibitions in the new distribution of museum funds? And do the funds come with demands for fair payment to the artists who play such a decisive role for experiences and content in the very museums themselves?
