KS 24, JANUS – West Jutland Art museum

The Artists' Summer Exhibition, abbreviated as KS, is a censored exhibition of visual arts. KS has been held since 1973, and the exhibition is among the 4 oldest censored exhibitions in Denmark. It gives points to BKF and has given debuts to many significant and recognized artists.

The Artists' Summer Exhibition in Tistrup is an institution. This annual censored exhibition has become synonymous with the small station town. Since the beginning, the exhibition has been an independent artist-run event, which since the Janus - West Jutland Art Museum got its own building in 2000, has been held under this auspices. Today, the exhibition can be considered a cultural beacon in West Jutland and Varde Municipality, and it manages to attract artists from all over Scandinavia, Germany and England.

The changing censors, who are chosen by the members of the Artists' Summer Exhibition, are all renowned artists who, through critical censorship, ensure that the exhibited works are of high quality. After the rounds of censorship, the censors are also in charge of curating the exhibition, which takes up the entire exhibition area of the Janus building (550 m2) during the two months the exhibition lasts. During the exhibition period, there are various events, including Artists Talk and Censor Talk, where artists and censors present the artworks, as well as lectures and tours.

Everyone can register works for KS, regardless of age, place of residence and nationality. Individuals as well as groups can submit works. Application to KS takes place via online registration. The registration deadline is 15 May. 2024

Exhibition period 2024 starts with vernissage on 15 June.
