Correct the unfair distribution of funds by earmarking new funds for the art academies outside Copenhagen

State subsidies to the art academies outside Copenhagen have been unfair and lopsided. Therefore, new funds for culture should be earmarked to strengthen the art academies in Aarhus and Odense in order to ensure a diverse and strong artistic environment in the two cities, writes Marie Thams, who is the representative of the Association of Visual Artists.

It is important for the diversity of Danish art life that there are three art academies in Denmark, each with their own professional profiles training the visual artists of the future.

If, from a central political point of view, you want a vibrant art life throughout the country, it is important to prioritize that visual artists are also trained at the highest level in Aarhus and Odense.

In this way, attractive and serious study environments and educations are created, and related environments arise which help to strengthen and maintain the artistic life of the cities.
