As a member of the Association of Visual Artists (BKF) and a graduate within the last three years, you have the opportunity to participate in BKF's exhibition scheme.

Exhibitor of the month of April-May, Johanne Helga Heiberg Johansen, explores the possibilities of drawing in his works. Here she talks about her work:

"The works exhibited at BKF are characteristic of what I am working on right now. The two ink drawings hanging in the office were made for BKF's handbook 2018 and are part of a longer series of ink drawings for that purpose.

My idea was that the drawings should describe something realistic and recognizable like a desk or a staircase. At the same time, the drawings try to tell a story, but in individual fragments, which the viewer has to find his or her own way through.

The fabric works that hang in BKF's meeting room come out of a process where I try to push the act of drawing itself, make the drawings into something spatial and create a more physical experience for the viewer.

With my sewn drawings, I examine the boundaries of when something is a drawing and when it becomes something else, such as an embroidery or a tapestry.

When I change my usual medium, I am forced to look at lines and spaces in a new way. In my text-oriented projects, I work with cut-up, where I sample found text with my own. I try to create a new dialogue through the manipulation of text and images. My pictures are in many ways a continuation, where I have often used found material, which I cut together and compose a new picture over.”

At BKF, Johanne Helga Heiberg Johansen shows two graphic works (- shown at the top of this page):

The orange peeler. Marker, ink on paper (2017). Room. Marker, ink on paper (2017).
