Now the countdown to the BKF award for Artist-driven Exhibition Venues of the Year 2018 is entering its final phase: This year's jury, consisting of the visual artists Anna Margrethe Pedersen, Uffe Isolotto and BKF's chairman Nis Rømer, has shortlisted six places, which are therefore in play for the three awards at NOK 25.000

The six winning candidates are selected from 50 nominees from all over the country, which has been nominated for the BKF prize by the audience, collaborators and artist colleagues.

"It has been difficult to choose, because the artistic quality is very high on the self-organized art scene, and the amount of activities is overwhelming. But the six places we have selected for the shortlist each contribute something very special to exhibition life," says BKF chairman Nis Rømer.

"All six of them show us in different ways how art can give us new insights and create new communities, both locally and internationally. They all play a significant role in the development of the domestic art life and deserve, we believe, extra recognition," says Nis Rømer.

The names of the winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony Friday 26 October 2018 at 16-18 in Carlsberg Academy's Pompejisal in Copenhagen.

BKF hopes that as many as possible will join us as we celebrate together the important artistic work that takes place on the artist-run exhibition scene – everyone is welcome!
