Photogravure (photopolymergravure / FPgravure) is a photographic fine print technique where you can print a photograph as an original intaglio on cotton paper.
In the course, we review the process based on the method developed by Eli Ponsaing in the 90s: Preparation of the photopolymer plate. Print of motif foil. UV illumination of 'aquatint' foil and positive motif foil. Finishing the FP plate. Press on paper in gravure press.
Along the way, we discuss and evaluate the possibilities and limitations of the processes as well as aesthetic and practical problems in the production and presentation of the finished prints. Finally, we will also look at the method's history and development.
